This is Deja Williams. She is a 3rd year, Computational Media major at Georgia Tech. We wanted to put the spotlight on her and her goals and dreams. After asking Deja several questions, here's what she had to say.
Q: What are your long-term and short-term goals?
A: My long-term goal is to work for PlayStation or popular gaming companies, such as Naughty Dog and Activision. My short-term goal is to Graduate from the Georgia Institute of Technology.
Q: What are your hobbies and interests?
A: I enjoy playing video games, reading, drawing, writing, and participating in sports.
Q: What has your experience at a Predominantly White Institution been like?
A: Its been an interesting journey, one in which I’ve gained a learning experience from that has
helped in connecting me to reality. When I first started going to Georgia Tech, it took time for me to adjust to the people and for them to get used to me also. When I first started at Tech I felt as if I was a unique case. My style and elements of myself were different to both African Americans and the non-African Americans. Luckily, I was able to fall into the right crowd. It took some time, but
now my days at Tech have been enjoyable and completely worth it.
Q: What are your plans after college?
A: I aspire to travel to Japan and, hopefully, become an employee at Cartoon Network.
Q: What's your favorite quote/motto
A: I like the quote "sometimes it's better not knowing, but one thing you do know is that you can't let unknown stop you".
Q: What is one piece of advice you'd give to a high schooler?
A: Never let anyone tell you differently. Whatever you feel and whatever you can be is up to you.
Q: What is your favorite subject and why?
A: Math, because there are many different ways to solve a problem.
Q: What have you learned from being in college?
A: I have learned that no matter how hard things get, you may take a break on the journey, but you should never stop moving forward.
Q: What is one of your greatest accomplishments?
A: Obtaining an internship in the game production department at Cartoon Network.
