Spotlight: Justus Keaton

Meet Justus Keaton. She is from Atlanta, GA. She is 21 years old and attends the University of Southern California.

1. Why did you choose your college?

USC was my dream school. In high school I wanted to be an TV and Film

producer, director and screenwriter. University of Southern California has the best

film school in the country, so I wanted to attend. However, since then I have changed my

major to design with minors in Cinematic Arts & Entrepreneurship.

2. What are some of your long and short term goals?

My short-term goal is to graduate college and successfully launch my business

ventures.

My long-term goal is to become a successful Corporate Event Planner and move to

the Bay Area.

3. What are some of your hobbies and interests?

I enjoy watching dramatic television. Even though my major is graphic design now, I

still love the art of film and TV. I enjoy working on Adobe illustrator, designing

clothes, designing websites, and learning Mandarin Chinese.

4. What has your experience at a PWI been like?

My experience at a PWI has been great for the most part. It’s definitely a culture

shock moving from a predominantly black environment to a predominantly white

& Asian school. However, my school has a ton of opportunities and festivities to

make it enjoyable.

5. What are your plans after college?

After college, I intend to move to the Bay Area. My hope is that my events and

party planning business, The Sacred Events, will have earned me enough profit to

relocate to Northern California and focus on corporate event planning.

6. What is a quote or motto that you live by?

Live fully, not fearfully. And when life gets tough, get tougher.

7. What is one piece of advice you'd give to a high schooler?

Find your passion and pursue it relentlessly.

8. What's your favorite subject and why?

I enjoy my graphic design class because I am learning so many skills that are fun,

lucrative, and can save me a ton of money when starting my businesses.

9. What have you learned from being in college?

I’ve learned to be open minded and try new things. Nothing is for certain and nothing

is forever. I’ve learned to be flexible, be coachable, and be adaptable.

10. What is one of your greatest accomplishments?

Launching my event planning business this year. It has been hard, but I’ve done so

many things I never ever expected myself to do. I’ve designed a beautiful logo,

developed a strong company brand & theme, designed a website, and hosted a

wildly successful event this past summer.
