These are tough times where people are required to stay home and, with me being such an on the go person, that's difficult. I'd rather be at my dorm having me time, or out to lunch with friends, or traveling. However, I have basically been kicked out of my dorm, I don't get very much me time while at home, and I cannot travel. Some days I honestly feel like I'm going a bit mad, but there are certainly ways that I have managed to stay busy.
1. Doing school work - I am still in college, so I have work that I should and could be doing. I schedule out time to work on class related projects, which is what I need to be doing anyway.
2. Video Chats and Netflix Parties - Tonight, I had an E-Board meeting with an organization I am a part of. This past weekend, I video chatted with friends to catch up. My friends and I have scheduled a Netflix Party this week. Technology has made it easy for us to keep in touch, so take advantage of that. I have a friend who does web based workouts, so it's easy to keep in touch.
3. Watching all the shows on my list - Yep! I watch movies with the family or by myself now that I have the time. What's on my list these days? The Bold Type, Legacies, and Madam CJ Walker.
4. Going for walks - Stay 6 feet away from people, but go out in nature. Going for walks makes me feel so much better. I love breathing in the fresh air and putting in my headphones and getting much needed me time.
5. At home exercises or going for runs - Similar to what I mentioned above. Exercise rejuvenates me.
6. Writing - My grandma and I have a bunch of writing prompt books, so we pick a prompt, put on a ten minute timer, and we write our hearts out. I also do monthly writing challenges sometimes. All of these are good ways to get out some feelings.
7. Cooking and Baking - It's a great time to make healthy decisions for you (or not so healthy ones). Make yourself a delicious creation! That's certainly what we're about to do over this way.
8. Painting and coloring - I have been painting my heart out and, I must say, I am pleased with some of my creations, especially as someone who is in no way an artist.
9. Picking up new skills - Linkedin has a bunch of classes and Adobe is offering free services, so it's a great time to learn something new.
At the end of the day, we have to work with the hand we have been dealt. It's a great time to appreciate a bit of down time and reflect and try something new. Keep in touch with and appreciate friends and family. It's going to be okay. Use this as a time of meditation and learning.
