Working From Home: Your Health and Wellness

I've done my fair share of working from home or doing school from home, and so on. So, I know that working from home can cause anxiety or bring about feelings of loneliness and isolation, especially when, for the most part, we are used to being in environments where people are tangible.

Because of my experiences during this pandemic, I realize that ensuring that I maintain my mental health and wellness is extremely important. It's important for you, too. Here are some ways to do this:

  1. Develop a routine – Get yourself a schedule and stick to it. This will give you some sense of normalcy.

  2. Keep your environment in mind – Your environment makes a difference in your productivity. In other words, don't work from bed. Set up a space where you can work with minimal interruptions. A space that feels like an office.

  3. Get outside – Go for a walk. Sit outside and work for a bit. Get some fresh air and be in nature. It will rejuvenate you. Spend time with those you care about, if you're comfortable with it.

  4. Say "no" – If you can say no, then say it. It's okay to protect your time and peace of mind.

  5. Make time for yourself – Do things that make you absolutely overjoyed and content. Life is too short to do anything else.

  6. Seek help – If you feel you need it. I started therapy up again last summer and have been doing it since. It has truly helped me. Don't be afraid to reach out.

This was pretty short, but I wanted to provide a few tips I've learned to regain some sense of normalcy and protect my mental. Do what works for you. There are certainly more things that you can do beyond this list. I hope this helps! Happy WFH.
